Project 365: 2010

Time moves surprisingly fast.

Life should be documented. Why not create a visual history of your life? Or at least for just a year. My goal this upcoming year is to take a picture a day, and document it here on this blog. Why? Imagine being able to reference each day of your life and recall what you did that day, how you felt, who you met or what you learned.

I think this project will help me personally, for the reasons listed above. Professionally, as an amateur photographer, it will help me learn the limits of my camera, challenge me to find 365 interesting things around me and develop my creative skills in regards to composition and lighting.

Feel free to leave comments and tell me what you think. Coming Soon--January 1, 2010!!

Welcome to the 21st century!

Jon and I FINALLY got new phones. We have been waiting out our contract with Centennial to switch over to AT&T. We both got kick ass new all touch-screen phones. With a 3.0mp camera. Woo Hoo! We got an unlimited data package which means that we can access the internet on our phones. I know, right? Imagine the concept. I think we are about the last people we know of to make this leap into the 21st century.

Just a few things people should learn...

"Do you sell Bluetooths?"
"Does this phone come with a Bluetooth?"

People, Bluetooth is a technology, not a tangible object. No we don't sell Bluetooths because we don't sell open wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices.

Nobody wants to hear your entire conversation on your cell phone as you are walking through the store. As long as cell phones have been around, I am still amazed at how people are under the impression that they have to speak as if the person on the other end is deaf. Think of your cell phone as a megaphone. A mega-cell-phone, if you will. The amazing technology used to manufacture phones will transfer your voice to the other end in a suitable volume desired by the recipient. I guarantee that the person on the other end has their phone held up to their ear, and can hear you just fine if you speak in a normal human decibel.

If you are able to multitask while driving...properly...all the power to you. If you are unable to talk on your phone and drive at an appropriate speed at the same time, DON'T. Studies show that talking on a cell phone while driving can make a person drive up to 2mph slower than other drivers. And since people already drive 10mph slower than I would like them to, that adds up to me sometimes being late to work.

Really? You are out of stock of the converter boxes?

So, we/you (the world) has known about the digital conversion since early 2007. Retail stores started carrying the digital converter boxes early last year (2008). It is now the day of conversion, and I shit you not, people were pissed today when I told them we didn't have any in stock. Today, an old man told me that it was unfair that we didn't have any. And I think I must have dropped my filter somewhere or left it in the break room when I went to lunch. Because at that point in the day, I wasn't even nice to him about it. It's almost as if a hurricane was coming, and people were told to evacuate a week beforehand, but didn't. And then bitched because they couldn't get a ride out of town the day it hit. Weird.

More LOL's!

The Hallowig

The Beard Cap

Either I have too much time on my hands for finding this stuff and posting about it...Or these people have too much time on their hands for inventing these two craptastic gems.
Thoughts?

Should I buy some new clothes soon?

I fell off the wagon for about a week. But I've recently been re-motivated and inspired. Jon and I are both doing really good now. I am currently down 9.8 pounds since the first of the year. And 25.8 total. The biggest difference, lately, is that I'm now counting calories. I'm only eating 1500 calories a day and making sure I exercise for at least 30 minutes. Counting calories isn't hard, but it's not fun. I actually measured out 2 tablespoons of peanut butter for my PB&J sandwich. (Peanut butter from the jar, no salmonella here.) And TONS of water. Good thing I like water and don't drink pop. That would have been a major change. It's a good thing that Bubba wants to get involved. He could stand to lose a few pounds!

Even worse!

On my way to work at 8 this morning!

Which by the way, I was late to work because I had to sit in a line of cars behind a lady at the top of the hill at Auten and Ironwood, spinning her tires, unable to go. Normally, I would be sympathetic, but she had a spare on her rear right side that wasn't doing her any favors. Take care of your stuff people! Don't make others suffer!

Let it snow...

Here it comes, all the snow we haven't gotten in the last two months. We'll be getting it in the next two days. Fun stuff. Duke has a love/hate relationship with the snow. He likes to play in it, it's different for him. But he has two rather serious problems with it. It's a little to high for him to 'comfortably' go potty. And he can't seem to find any of his outside toys that are burried. Oh, but he tries.

Look at that smirk!

Jon and I went grocery shopping yesterday. We shop at Target, for all the savings! I get a 10% discount. I also had a Pharmecy Rewards coupon for an additional 10% off our entire purchase. And for the month of January, all team members get an additional 10% off any Target brand product (We are big fans). So when all was said and done, our receipt showed that we saved $100.83!! Sweet!

New Year's Resolution

Getting fit! I wanted to blog a little about my progress. We got our Wii Fit when it first came out in May of 2008. We didn't really work out much with it at first. In fact, Jon and I both went about 3 months where we didn't do it at all. Both of us have made a commitment this year to try really hard to get healthy. I have worked out at least 30 minutes a day for 6 out of the 7 first days in January. I'm proud of myself. My short term goal is to lose 40 pounds by the time I go to Camp Seagull in June. And keep losing from there.

Since May of 2008, I have lost 23.6 pounds.
Since January 1st, I have lost 7.1 pounds.

It's not enough to notice on me yet. But it's a hell of a start!

Photo Shoot Saturday

Today, my dad and I went on a photo shoot to Bonneyville Mill in Bristol. The weather looked nice enough, but it was cold. We took the toll road there, and the charge for the short distance we travelled was $0.50. I only had my locker quarter on me, and my dad had tens. It was an automated machine and he got $9.50 back in change. Ask him about it, he was thrilled.

The recent warm weather had caused some mild flooding at Bonneyvill Mill and there were several large frozen puddles that littered the area. When I was walking across a bridge, I noticed a frozen puddle at the end of it. Literally, as I was thinking in my head, "hmmmm, I need to walk around this puddle on the non-frozen grassy area..." my two feet flew out from under me, both at the same time. There was no trying to stop the fall. Since my camera was in my hands, I threw my arms up in the air so the camera wouldn't get near the ground. So there was no breaking the fall either. I landed flat on my ass, with my arms up in the air holding my camera safely. Small price to pay for getting the shot.

It's not the first time I've fallen, and it won't be the last. But let's face it. It's not the worst thing to happen to me while on a photo shoot. I was electrocuted by a farm fence once.

Here's a couple shots I took today. Not bad, huh?
